Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2025
PopCast ("PopCast", "we", "us") understands the importance of privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the PopCast application and services (the "Services") across all platforms. It explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you.
A. Information We Collect
We collect information to operate the Services, keep our community safe, and improve user experience. Some information is required to provide basic functionality.
i. Information you provide
- Account & profile: name, display name/handle, email, biography, avatar, and any other profile fields you choose to provide.
- User‑generated content (UGC): streams, video, audio, images, comments, messages, titles, tags, and associated metadata (for example, timestamps and device type).
- Payments: if you purchase SuperFan (one‑time $4.99) or other paid features processed by Apple or Stripe, we receive limited payment metadata (e.g., a token/receipt, status, amount). Card numbers are handled by payment processors, not PopCast.
- Support & feedback: content of messages you send to us, bug reports, or survey responses.
- Third‑party sign‑in: if you sign in with Apple, we receive information Apple shares with us (e.g., a token, email if permitted). You can manage what is shared via your Apple settings.
ii. Information collected automatically or for legitimate interests
- Device & diagnostics: app version, OS, device model, IP address, language, time zone, performance and crash data.
- Usage: pages/screens viewed, features used, referral URLs, stream/watch activity, and interaction events needed to operate and secure the Services.
- Location: approximate location derived from IP. You may choose to share more precise location where supported by your device OS settings.
- Cookies and similar technologies: on the web we use cookies/pixels to remember settings, measure usage, and improve the site. You can control cookies in your browser; disabling them may affect functionality.
- Push notifications: if enabled, we store device tokens to send service or go‑live alerts. You can disable push in your OS settings.
- Screen recording detection: for creator protection, we may detect OS‑level screen capture state to limit functionality and enforce our policies. We do not access the recording itself.
- AI features (if used): prompts and generated outputs are processed to provide the feature and to improve safety and abuse prevention. We do not use your UGC for public model training without your consent.
B. How We Use Information
- Provide, operate, and maintain PopCast (including streaming, chat, search, moderation, and SuperFan).
- Personalize content and recommendations; improve quality and reliability of streams and chat.
- Maintain safety and integrity: detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, spam, fraud, and policy violations.
- Send service messages and go‑live notifications (you can manage notification settings).
- Debug, monitor performance, and develop new features.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
- Create aggregated or de‑identified analytics that do not identify you.
C. How Information May Be Shared
- Service providers: hosting, storage, analytics, payments, content delivery, security, and customer support vendors (e.g., Supabase, Mux, Stripe, Apple). They process data under contracts that restrict their use.
- Legal, safety, and rights: to comply with law or valid legal process; to protect users, our platform, and the public; to enforce our agreements and policies.
- With your direction: when you share content publicly or link third‑party services.
- We do not sell your personal information.
D. Third‑Party Links
PopCast may link to third‑party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
E. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When no longer needed, we delete or de‑identify data in accordance with our retention policies.
F. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information (including encryption in transit, role‑based access, and monitoring). No system is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
G. Your Choices
- Cookies: manage via your browser settings.
- Push notifications: enable/disable in your device settings.
- Location: control precise location sharing in your OS settings.
- Marketing: unsubscribe using email links where applicable.
H. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, or object to/limit certain processing. To exercise rights, contact us at admin@popcast.cc. We will verify your request and respond as required by law.
I. Children
PopCast is intended for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that data from a person under 18 was provided, we will delete it.
J. International Data Transfers
We operate in the United States. Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. and other countries that may have different data‑protection laws.
